The Otters U-19s wrapped up an undefeated tournament in Winston-Salem with a win on Tuesday to advance to the US Club Soccer National Finals. The finals will be held in Westfield, Indiana from July 21-24 and will feature teams from all over the country competing for the National Cup.
The U-19s went undefeated in the group stage, scoring ten goals and only allowing three in three matches. In the final, they were able to beat the SC United Bantams reserves 6-2 to earn their spot at the championship.
Toby McGovern (F, DC United) led all scorers with six goals over the four games. Otters first team players Jordan Broadwater (MF, ETSU) and Shalom Dutey (CB, Liberty) also played an integral part in the championship run.
David Garrett, head coach of the reserve team, said, “We are thankful to the Tri-Cities Otters for the opportunity to represent them as Southeast Regional Champions.”
The U-19s will compete at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana from July 21-24. We will continue to provide updates on their exciting journey!
