The Otters are excited to announce the final additions to their roster for the 2017 PDL season pending league approval. The final six players come to the Tri-Cities from a wide array of backgrounds and schools. The schools represented are Rutgers, ETSU, UNC-Greensboro, Northwest Nazarene, Saint Bonaventure, and Seton Hall. Join us in welcoming Federico Gutierrez, Yera Sissoko, Cameron Morton, Remi Dujardin, Alex Mitrovc, and Marco Neves to the Otters family!
Uruguayan defender Federico Gutierrez will begin his college career this fall at Rutgers University. Gutierrez helped lead his youth teams to multiple championships growing up in Uruguay. Gutierrez’ father was also a member of the Uruguayan National Team.
Yera Sissoko joins the Otters from ETSU here in Johnson City. Sissoko made 15 appearances for the Bucs this past season as both a centerback and fullback nearly tallying 1,000 minutes for the second straight season. Sissoko excels in one-on-one situations and contributed heavily to an ETSU defense that finished first in shutouts, tied for first in goals allowed, and second in goals against average in the Southern Conference.
Cameron Morton comes to the Otters after his freshman season at UNC-Greensboro. Morton played for Pinecrest High School and was named All-Region two times. He also has experience with the Olympic Development Program and captained his team that appeared at Nationals.
St. Bonaventure midfielder Remi Dujardin started all but one game his sophomore season for the Bonnies. Dujardin also brings plenty of international experience to the Otters. He has made 37 appearances for the Hong Kong National Team and also joined the U-21 National Team in preparation for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Alex Mitrovic comes to the Tri-Cities by way of Northwest Nazarene University in Idaho. The Serbian midfielder made 16 starts for the Crusaders and was able to tally four goals and three assists in route to a third place finish in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Mitrovic’s performance earned him a spot on the All-Conference Honorable Mentions list.
Marco Neves played last season at Las Positas College in California. For the Hawks, Neves made 22 appearances and scored 25 goals and seven assists. Neves lead the Hawks to the playoffs and was named an NSCAA All-American. His play was able to earn him a spot on Seton Hall’s team in the Big East in the fall.
The Otters season begins on May 23rd in South Carolina, but the Otters will return home on June 6th to face Peachtree City MOBA in their home opener.
