Otters Add Four From Sooner Athletic Conference

The Otters are excited to announce the return of two former Otters and two new Otters from the Sooner Athletic Conference pending league approval. Three players will come to the Tri-Cities by way of Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. The other player joins the Otters from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. The four players: defender Alexis Castillo, midfielder Gian Scalise, and forwards Guillermo Deal and Conner Haney were all able to lead their teams to the NAIA Tournament.

A former Otter and defender from Wayland Baptist, Alexis Castillo re-joins the Otters after starting all but one game for the Pioneers in his sophomore season. Castillo also contributed on the offensive end, tallying two goals and one assist over his 21 appearances, helping lead Wayland Baptist to a conference title and a #20 national ranking.

Gian Scalise will also return to the Otters after appearing in eight games and recording an assist last season. The Argentinian-born defender/midfielder had a spectacular sophomore season at Wayland Baptist University that saw him named to the All-Sooner Athletic Conference First Team. Scalise appeared in 20 games (starting 18) and was able to score two goals and add three assists for the Pioneers.

Guillermo Deal is the third player from Wayland Baptist that will suit up for the Otters this season. The Uruguayan forward played a big role in the Pioneers conference title and appearance in the NAIA Tournament. Deal had 14 goals and five assists over his 21 appearances as a freshman. Deal’s strong season was rewarded with a spot on the All-Sooner Athletic Conference Second Team as well as being named Freshman of the Year for the conference.

Conner Haney started 17 out of the 19 games that the Golden Eagles played this year and finished the season with ten goals and six assists. Haney finished in the top-ten in every offensive category in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Accordingly, Haney was named to the All-Conference First Team.

The Otters will play their first three games on the road but they will begin their June home stand on the 6th at 7 PM against Peachtree City MOBA. Visit for more information regarding tickets and upcoming special events.
