Otters Add Five From Carson-Newman

The Tri-Cities Otters are excited to announce their first round of player signings (pending league approval). These five players will suit up for the Otters during the upcoming 2017 PDL season from Carson-Newman University. The group includes defenders Sam Jenkins and Samuel Amure, midfielder Dion Stergiotis, and forwards Evan Harr and Bruno Andrade.

Sam Jenkins just completed his junior campaign at Carson-Newman where he made 13 starts over 16 total games. He scored his first career goal in the Eagles’ season opener against Lees-McRae. Jenkins was a part of a Carson-Newman defense that recorded four shutouts this year and held opponents to one goal on five other occasions.

Samuel Amure is making his return to the Otters after appearing in eight games at centerback for them last season. The London-native just completed his senior season at Carson-Newman University that saw him score his first career goal in a 1-0 win over USC-Aiken.

In Dionysis Stergiotis’ first year with Carson Newman, the Canadian-born midfielder appeared in all 17 games for the Eagles and recorded one goal and two assists. He also finished fifth on the team in shots (20) and fourth in shots on goal (9).

After a successful youth career in East Tennessee, Evan Harr had a great start to his college career at Carson-Newman. Harr appeared in 16 games as a freshman, starting all but one. He also tallied two goals on 15 shots for a team that finished top five in the South Atlantic Conference in goals scored.

Sophomore forward Bruno Andrade scored one goal one nine shots, but only appeared in two games for Carson-Newman after an injury derailed his hot start to the season. In his freshman season, the Brazilian native appeared in 19 matches, recording three goals and five assists. For his efforts he was named Honorable Mention All-South Atlantic Conference that season.
