Division II Powers Provide Otters With Five Players

The Otters will welcome four new players to the Tri-Cities from two prominent universities from the NCAA Division II ranks pending league approval. Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina will send three players to the Otters in goalkeeper Charlie Dixon, defender Ian Foulger, and midfielder Sia Jamedar. Two forwards, Mateo Garces Yepes and Roberto Soares, will join from powerhouse Pfeiffer University for the 2017 season.

Charlie Dixon comes to the Otters by way of England. Dixon made his first appearance for Lander in the championship game of their conference tournament. He will be going into his senior year this fall at Lander University.

Ian Foulger is another player to come to the Otters from England. At Lander, Foulger has started 31 games and appeared in 41 games overall for the Bearcats. He recorded one goal and one assist this season and was a part of a Lander backline that lead the Peachbelt Conference in goals allowed, goals against average, and shutouts. Foulger also was named to the Peachbelt Conference’s All-Tournament Team this season.

Sia Jamedar just completed his sophomore season at Lander. The Swedish midfielder appeared in 18 matches, starting 12 of them. Jamedar scored the first goal of his career in an 8-1 win over Georgia Southwestern.

Brazilian forward Roberto Soares comes to the Tri-Cities after finishing up a very successful career for a Pfeiffer squad that won 61 games over three seasons, which included an undefeated season in 2015. Soares made 41 starts over his three seasons with the Falcons and scored 29 goals and 13 assists. Soares was also an All-Conference selection three times, most recently on the Third Team for this past season that saw him tally eleven goals and six assists.

Mateo Garces Yepes also joins the Otters after completing his career at Pfeiffer. The Colombian forward appeared in 59 games in his career for the Falcons and scored nine goals over 18 games this past season for the top Division II offense in the country.

The Otters will play their first home game at Kermit-Tipton Stadium on June 6th when they face Peachtree City MOBA at 7:00 PM. For more information regarding the upcoming season, please visit ottersoccer.com!
